About the role
- Hiring Java Backend Developer (Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, AI/LLM) for a 12-month hybrid contract in Toronto. Must have 8+ years experience and Canadian PR/OWP/Citizenship.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain high-performance backend services using Java 17+, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture. Build and expose scalable RESTful and event-driven APIs for enterprise applications. Integrate Generative AI and LLM capabilities into backend workflows. Design, test, and optimize prompts and prompt orchestration strategies. Develop AI-powered backend components including Prompt Pipelines, RAG Services, and AI Inference Layers. Implement secure integrations with AI platforms and internal systems. Ensure scalability, resiliency, observability, and performance of backend services. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and cloud-native deployments. Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical design activities. Troubleshoot production issues across backend and AI-integrated systems.
Requirements
- 8+ Years in Java Backend Development. Core Technical Skills: Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security, Microservices Architecture, REST APIs, OpenAPI / Swagger, Event-Driven Architecture, API Design & Development. Cloud & DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Azure / AWS, CI/CD Pipelines, DevOps Practices, Automated Testing. Database Technologies: PostgreSQL, MongoDB, DB2, SQL, NoSQL Databases. AI & Prompt Engineering: Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Prompt Engineering, Zero-Shot Prompting, Few-Shot Prompting, Chain-of-Thought Prompting, Prompt Templates & Dynamic Prompt Generation, Guardrails & Hallucination Reduction, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), Vector Databases & Embeddings, AI Orchestration Frameworks, Prompt Evaluation & Monitoring. Security & Compliance: OAuth 2.0, JWT Authentication, SSL/TLS, Secure API Design, Data Privacy & PII Handling, AI Governance, BFSI Domain Experience (Preferred).
