About the role

Xanadu seeks a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their Hardware Team in Toronto, taking mechanical ownership of photonic quantum computers deployed at scale.

Responsibilities

As part of the Hardware Team in Toronto, you will take your experience in delivering complex mechanical, vibration-control and cooling solutions, and apply it to Xanadu’s rack-scale quantum computer development. In the role of mechanical engineer, you will join a growing team to model all elements that make up our complex devices, as well as design and produce robust mechanical solutions to support them. With your strong background in mechanical design and thermal management, and your strong experience in producing complex assemblies, you will be taking the mechanical ownership of the world’s first photonic computers that will be deployed at scale to serve customers.

BSc or higher in mechanical engineering or relevant related discipline; 5+ years industry or academic experience in a relevant discipline; self-motivated, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively; strong interpersonal skills; experience with thermal simulations to achieve optimal temperature stability and uniformity in small enclosures; proficiency in GD&T.
