About the role
- Quality Inspector inspecting components and assemblies for Leonardo DRS Canada’s military power-conversion equipment. Ensuring conformance through measurements, documentation, NCRs, and contractual quality checks.
Responsibilities
- Conduct inspections to ensure components, hardware, and subassemblies meet quality standards
- Respond to queries on the quality of parts
- Make decisions based on documented accept/reject criteria
- Generate detailed nonconformance reports (NCRs) for rejected items
- Actively manage the backlog of rejected items to achieve targeted cycle time
- Support Quality Assurance or Customer Inspectors during Source and FAI Inspections
- Release products to stores, verifying that all contractual requirements have been met
- Review test data sheets for compliance with test requirements and ensure signoffs are complete and legible
- Complete Inspection Checklists, request and sign off Release Notes, and route products to shipping
- Perform assembly and other manufacturing functions as required
- Perform inspection activities of products, components, subassemblies, and/or systems to assess conformance to engineering drawings, models, and customer requirements
- Report to the Quality Manager
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certification and in-depth knowledge of relevant manufacturing standards such as WHMA-A-620, J-Std-001, and IPC-A-610, or common mechanical techniques such as geometric dimensioning and tolerance practices, considered an asset
- Fluent with quality standards, internal documentation, and product lines
- Ability to use measurement devices including calipers, pin gauges, go/no-go gauges, and microscope
- Experience reading drawings and verifying part dimensions against drawing requirements
- Proficient using Metric and US/Imperial measurement systems and performing measurement conversions
- Ability to interpret contractual requirements and execute them independently
- Intermediate PC skills and experience using ERP systems
- Knowledge of effective ESD and Moisture Sensitivity practices
- Knowledge of SPC considered an asset
- Understanding of the link between assembly, inspection, and QA in customer satisfaction
- Basic knowledge of ISO and AS Standards
- Ability to understand military specifications and read blueprints
- Ability to define problems and drive to root cause and effective corrective action
- All applicants must fulfill requirements for Canadian security clearance
