About the role
- Tunnel Inspector inspecting TBM tunnelling and contractor compliance for GHD’s rail and transit infrastructure group. Monitoring safety, quality, records, and emerging construction issues across Greater Toronto Area projects.
Responsibilities
- Perform inspection duties on underground tunnelling projects
- Work safely in conformance with GHD’s Behaviour-Based Safety culture and railway safety requirements
- Complete day-to-day inspections of tunnel construction in accordance with client terms of reference and manuals
- Complete daily project records and diary entries
- Monitor contractor work for compliance with contract specifications
- Monitor contractor work for compliance with applicable safety and environmental legislation
- Take action, in consultation with the Construction Manager and in accordance with contract requirements, when non-conformances are observed
- Make recommendations and propose solutions for emerging project issues
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA/QC inspection of TBM tunneling with precast concrete segmental lining
- OACETT rcsi designation or PEO EIT designation considered an asset
- Sound judgment and decisiveness
- Strong organizational, administrative, observational and problem-solving skills
- Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Team player, cooperative with other staff, with open sharing of information and knowledge
- MTO Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing
- Access to a vehicle
- Ability to work nights, weekends, extended shifts and overtime as necessary
