About the role
- Senior Data Scientist building generative AI, machine learning, and data engineering systems. Supporting an international economic consulting firm’s client engagements and analytics services.
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced mathematical and statistical modeling to translate complex research questions into actionable strategic insights for clients
- Architect, validate, and launch full-stack machine learning, data engineering, and AI production systems
- Apply natural language processing (NLP) and generative AI to extract value from complex, unstructured datasets such as electronic health records and social media
- Streamline the architecture and querying procedures for massive databases, including financial data and insurance claims
- Build intuitive interactive analytics portals and robust data visualizations using Python/Flask, R/Shiny, or D3
- Develop software packages in Python and R
- Optimize computationally intensive workflows using C, C++, CUDA, cloud computing, and grid/HPC environments
- Serve as a technical mentor, participate directly in client engagements, and help scale the firm’s internal data science knowledge base
- Monitor technological developments, particularly in generative AI, and integrate cutting-edge tools, applications, and data sources into the firm’s services
Requirements
- PhD in a highly quantitative discipline, such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related scientific field
- Demonstrated ability to independently tackle complex analytical problems and derive meaningful insights using advanced mathematical frameworks
- Expert proficiency in Python and/or R is required, supported by a strong portfolio of applied project experience
- Deep technical understanding of generative AI concepts and mechanisms, including embeddings, RAG, prompt engineering, tool calling, and structured generation, with hands-on experience prototyping or deploying AI agents
- Strong awareness of the ethical considerations, risks, and responsible-use best practices associated with generative AI applications
- Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS, as well as High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments
- Familiarity with Linux, Docker, and JavaScript front-end frameworks such as Angular and Vue.js is highly advantageous
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven track record of collaborative teamwork
- Fluency in English is strictly required
- Candidates must possess valid work authorization
- Solid experience working with structured and unstructured data
- A valid work permit is required
