About the role
- Senior Data Scientist developing fraud-detection models for Akamai’s cloud and edge security platform. Improving detection accuracy and troubleshooting distributed production systems.
Responsibilities
- Analyze large datasets to differentiate legitimate and fraudulent traffic
- Develop and implement detection rules and models to improve security product accuracy and effectiveness
- Improve processes for collecting, manipulating, presenting, and analyzing large datasets in a production-ready environment
- Troubleshoot production issues in a highly distributed environment
- Analyze data, address customer challenges, and drive product improvements
- Collaborate across teams to implement solutions, enhance detection accuracy, and provide strategic and performance insights
Requirements
- 8 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree or its equivalent
- Experience working on large datasets using SQL/Spark and Python
- Good understanding of probability, statistics, and machine learning algorithms/techniques
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Practical knowledge of application security products such as bot or fraud detection
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to articulate technical information in an easy-to-understand manner
- Familiarity with Internet protocols including TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and TLS/SSL
