About the role
- Specialist in Data Engineering developing Azure-based data integration and transformation solutions for Alberta Energy Regulator. Collaborating with teams to enable analytics and operational insights.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL solutions using Azure-based tools (e.g., Data Factory, Databricks, Azure Functions)
- Collaborate with architects, analysts, and developers to translate business requirements into technical data solutions
- Monitor and optimize performance, reliability, and quality of data workflows
- Participate in peer reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Data Engineering practice
- Contribute to agile delivery processes, including sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and CI/CD pipeline activities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- 5 years of hands‑on experience in data engineering, data integration, and ETL development
- 1–2 years of experience working within agile teams applying CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices
- Experience working in Microsoft Azure environments, including Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, and building data pipelines in Databricks
- Strong technical and analytical skills, including SQL proficiency and an understanding of data integration and performance tuning
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps)
- Familiarity with data lakes, metadata management, data quality, and enterprise reporting concepts
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
