Responsibilities
- Provide ambulatory, medical, and surgical equine veterinary services
- Participate in team rounds to discuss cases and upcoming appointments
- Manage a varied caseload ranging from family horses to elite competitors
- Handle emergencies and surgeries in-house from start to finish
- Build a veterinary practice and client base
- Mentor and support students, externs, and interns
- Provide herd health, dentistry, and lameness care
- Evaluate and treat cases using the hospital’s surgical suite, intensive care barn, endoscopy, digital radiography, ultrasonography, lameness diagnostics, shockwave therapy, and indoor lameness center
- Collaborate with colleagues and specialists through knowledge-sharing groups and continuing education events
Requirements
- Equine veterinarian
- Confident communicator who builds trust quickly with clients and colleagues
- Drive and vision to build a practice and client base
- Energized by mentoring and supporting students, externs, and interns
- Interest in all facets of medicine, including herd health, dentistry, and lameness
- Ability to work in ambulatory practice and optionally see cases in-clinic
- Professional veterinary qualifications and licensing required to practice as a veterinarian
