About the role
- Equine veterinarian providing ambulatory, medical, and surgical care at Delaney Veterinary Services, Alberta’s equine referral facility. Treating varied cases while mentoring students and collaborating with veterinary specialists.
Responsibilities
- Join a six-veterinarian team including three surgeons and three associate veterinarians
- Participate in daily team rounds to discuss cases and upcoming appointments
- Treat a varied caseload ranging from family horses to elite competitors
- Manage emergencies and surgeries in-house from start to finish
- Build a veterinary practice and client base
- Mentor and support visiting students, externs, and interns
- Provide ambulatory, medical, and surgical equine veterinary services
- Work across herd health, dentistry, and lameness
- Evaluate and care for cases in-clinic and through ambulatory practice
- Collaborate with colleagues and specialists through knowledge-sharing groups and continuing education
Requirements
- Equine veterinarian
- Confident communicator who builds trust quickly with clients and colleagues
- Drive and vision to build a practice and client base
- Energized by mentoring and supporting students, externs, and interns
- Interest in all facets of medicine, including herd health, dentistry, and lameness
- Ability to work in ambulatory practice and see cases in-clinic
- Professional veterinary credentials and licensing required to practice in Alberta (implied by the veterinarian role and licensing-fee benefit)
