Electrical Engineer performing design and engineering work for CANDU nuclear systems. Collaborating with clients and stakeholders, supervising junior engineers, and preparing technical documentation.
Responsibilities
Perform engineering work following AtkinsRéalis/Candu Energy procedures and QA programs, and applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
Coordinate and interface with client(s), suppliers, stakeholders and other design disciplines to execute assigned engineering work
Prepare technical documents, such as: engineering drawings, change paper markups, calculations, design/analysis reports, bill of materials, design specifications, etc.
Prepare requisitions or Engineering Quotation Requests (EQR) for equipment and materials to support procurement
Provide technical guidance and instruction to Designers/Drafters
Supervise, coordinate and review the work of junior and assistant engineers/designers; preparing estimates and monitoring schedules
Assist field construction and execution activities, such as: field changes, design revisions, commissioning, etc.
Requirements
Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university or equivalent degree recognized by Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
Registered as a Professional Engineer in the Province of Ontario
8+ years of related work experience in electrical engineering and power systems design preferably in the nuclear industry
0 to 2 years of design experience in Nuclear Power Plants would be an asset
Experience with medium voltage and low voltage power distribution systems
Good knowledge and experience of CANDU nuclear electrical power systems
Familiar with specifying and procurement support for electrical equipment such as Transformers, MCCs, UPS systems including rectifiers and inverters.
Adequate knowledge of established Nuclear QA guidelines, procedures and practices is preferable.
Site experience in construction, or commissioning of electrical systems for nuclear or other heavy industries would be an asset
