Senior Engineer contributing specialized expertise in bus transit engineering to improve public transit agencies. Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams on consulting mandates, feasibility studies, and designs.
Responsibilities
Supports technical designs, specifications, integration on bus-related projects, including bus fleets, on-board systems, charging infrastructure, maintenance operations.
Participate in multidisciplinary project teams, delivering studies, conceptual designs, and implementation strategies for major transit clients.
Contribute to the planning and design of bus depots, charging infrastructures, BRT corridors, systems requirements, maintenance facilities, and operational support systems.
Support or lead tasks within multidisciplinary engineering projects, contributing to schedules, risk reviews, cost estimates, and quality control.
Participate in design reviews, ensure compliance with standards, regulatory requirements, and applicable codes (CSA, APTA, TSBC, NFPA, federal and provincial guidelines).
Monitor emerging industry trends and advise internal teams and clients on innovative technologies and best practices.
Support the development of internal tools, methodologies, and technical standards that enhance ATKINSRéalis’ excellence in transit engineering.
Contribute to proposals, business development activities, and thought leadership to expand the firm’s presence in the Canadian transit market.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, civil, automotive engineering or related field
P. Eng. license in a Canadian province
10+ years of experience in transit infrastructure and systems, with a focus on bus transit
Experience in consulting, project delivery, or client advisory services is an asset
Good understanding of bus systems, including civil, mechanical, electrical, O&M, as well as the Canadian transit regulations and standards.
