- Senior Software Engineer building client-facing investment research applications at BlueMatrix. Leading engineers and delivering scalable Java, ReactJS, PostgreSQL, Docker, and AWS systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and support a team of engineers, fostering innovation, ownership, and collaboration
- Conduct 1:1s, provide coaching and feedback, and support professional development
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, team growth strategies, performance management, annual reviews, merit, and feedback conversations
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code
- Contribute to key development projects and unblock engineering challenges
- Guide architecture, code reviews, and technical decision-making
- Collaborate with Product, Design, and stakeholders to define and deliver solutions
- Partner with Product to shape epics, plan sprints, and prioritize the backlog
- Own sprint planning, delivery timelines, and status reporting
- Hold the team accountable to sprint commitments and timely delivery
- Identify and manage technical dependencies and risks
- Champion engineering best practices in coding, testing, CI/CD, and monitoring
- Drive continuous improvement in tools, workflows, and team processes
- Help define and implement the long-term technical strategy
- Build and maintain client-facing components for BlueMatrix’s investment research authoring, distribution, analysis, knowledge management, and digital communications applications
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 1–2+ years in a leadership or team lead capacity
- Experience with AWS Lambda, ECS, SQS, Kinesis, Sendgrid, Postfix and Terraform
- Experience designing and delivering scalable, production-ready systems and applications
- Comfortable contributing to both frontend and/or backend codebases
- Solid understanding of modern development practices, architecture patterns, and engineering tools
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, especially across cross-functional teams
- Experience delivering reliable, high-performance REST APIs
- Strong interest in database and query performance tuning
- Experience and good understanding of scrum/agile development methodologies
- Experience with code reviews, service ownership, fully automated testing, microservices, and rapid/continuous releases
