About the role

  • BMO Managing Director structuring complex corporate finance deals and securing credit approvals. Growing strategic banking portfolios through client relationships, cross-selling, and market coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate growth for the Bank through business development and management of key client relationships.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex client issues and resolve conflicts.
  • Lead the structuring of high-value, complex deals and credit approvals.
  • Oversee credit approvals and drive pricing coordination.
  • Drive negotiations for high-value, complex transactions and credit approvals.
  • Manage high-value client portfolios, driving cross-selling, retention, and profitability.
  • Implement cross-selling initiatives and transition opportunities into revenue-generating sales.
  • Lead market coverage strategies to expand portfolios and identify opportunities.
  • Represent the bank at industry forums and conferences.
  • Engage with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align strategies and address client needs.
  • Deliver reports to bank leadership on team performance, client satisfaction, market trends, and strategic initiatives.
  • Provide strategic advisory on loan products, options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with high-value and strategic clients.
  • Analyze market trends, client industry developments, and competitive positioning.
  • Define products, solutions, and strategies with internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Identify share-of-wallet opportunities.
  • Use analysis tools to grow portfolios exceeding ROE thresholds and evaluate client returns.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, internal controls, and compliance policies.
  • Foster BMO purpose, values, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Build collaborative teams and develop top talent.
  • Improve team performance, coach employees, support development, and manage poor performance.
  • Operate at a group/enterprise-wide level as a specialist resource to senior leaders and stakeholders.
  • Implement changes in response to shifting trends.
  • Apply BMO’s Risk Management Framework and make risk-informed decisions aligned with business strategy and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Perform other broader work or accountabilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Relationship Management, Account Management or Portfolio Management in a corporate or similar segmented banking environment with sales metrics is preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Business Administration, Finance and Accounting preferred.
  • Any other related discipline or commensurate work experience considered.
  • Credit Qualifications and associated credit knowledge and skills according to the credit portfolio requirements and qualification standards, if a Credit Qualifiable role.
  • Seasoned professional with a combination of education, experience and industry knowledge.
  • Advanced proficiency in Project Management, Change Management, and People Management.
  • Expert proficiency in Product Knowledge, Regulatory Compliance, Structuring Deals, Portfolio Management, Credit Risk Assessment, Customer Service, Stakeholder Management, Negotiation, and Customer Relationship Building.
