About the role

Senior Fund Analyst overseeing fund accounting, NAV valuation, audits, and financial reporting at Bank of Montreal. Fully remote role supporting accurate regulatory and management reporting.

Responsibilities

Manage the full cycle of fund accounting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and accounting standards while preparing and reviewing financial reports
Coordinate the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors
Develop and monitor accounting policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and financial controls
Oversee portfolio investment valuation and accurate calculation of net asset values (NAV)
Provide analytical support for fund performance reporting and management decision-making
Provide financial analysis and reporting to senior management, highlighting key metrics and trends
Oversee daily fund accounting operations and prepare and review financial statements and reports
Reconcile cash, positions, and other transactional data, identifying and resolving discrepancies
Collaborate with internal and external auditors on regulatory and internal policy compliance
Implement and maintain accounting policies and procedures
Support development of automated solutions to streamline accounting processes and reporting
Mentor and share knowledge with team members

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5+ years of experience in fund accounting, preferably within an asset management or financial services background in an Alternative Investment environment
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, including GAAP and IFRS
Proficiency in financial software and reporting tools, with advanced Excel skills
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently
Advanced Excel capabilities, including pivot tables and complex formulas
Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements and data management tools
Exceptional attention to detail
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
