About the role

  • Small Business Facilitator delivering entrepreneurship programs for Momentum, a Calgary community economic development organization. Coaching participants through business planning, self-employment, and financing readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the Entering Entrepreneurship, Business Feasibility Study, Part-time Self-Employment, and Self-Employment program curriculum as needed
  • Use engaging and inclusive facilitation techniques in online and in-person settings
  • Support participants through the business development process
  • Provide feedback and ensure business plans meet requirements for financing consideration
  • Host guest-speaker-led sessions
  • Provide one-on-one business coaching sessions as needed
  • Collaborate with the Local Economy Development team to transition participants between programs and services
  • Connect participants with additional resources
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Contribute to reporting and evaluation through data entry, narrative updates, and participant feedback analysis
  • Reflect Momentum’s values through teamwork, community involvement, and continuous learning and improvement

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in small business, communications, adult education, economics, or a related field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience facilitating for adult learners, both in-person and online
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills
  • Ability to create inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environments
  • Solid understanding of small business development and entrepreneurship
  • Experience operating your own small business
  • Ability to coach participants one-on-one is an asset
  • ICF coaching certification is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those living on low incomes and/or facing systemic barriers
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Collaborative and community-centred approach
  • Excellent organizational skills, including time management and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple programs/projects simultaneously
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint
  • Proficiency with Zoom
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems such as D2L Brightspace is an asset
  • Experience with business planning tools such as LivePlan is an asset
  • Knowledge of community economic development, human-centred design, or trauma-informed practices is an asset
  • Passion for equity, inclusion, and supporting others on their journey to self-employment
