Associate in Workplace Health and Safety responsible for implementing safety policies and procedures. Collaborating with internal teams to strengthen health and safety practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
Report to the Director, Workplace Health and Safety
Support the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and systems across the organization
Strengthen a positive safety culture
Coordinate health and safety initiatives
Help identify and address workplace hazards
Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
Provide guidance to employees and leaders on safe work practices, risk assessments, and travel safety
Contribute to training, onboarding, inspections, audits, and ongoing health and safety communications
Requirements
At least 2 years' experience in developing and/or maintaining a workplace safety management system
Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
Strong understanding of relevant legislation such as all provincial and territorial Occupational Health and Safety Acts, Codes, and Regulations, and applicable standards
Experience applying project and change management principles and practices to health and safety initiatives
Experience working in health and capacity for community-based programs (such as mobile social workers, personal support workers, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Working knowledge of English and French and lived or work experience with Indigenous communities is preferred.
