About the role
- Associate in Workplace Health and Safety responsible for implementing safety policies and procedures. Collaborating with internal teams to strengthen health and safety practices across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Report to the Director, Workplace Health and Safety
- Support the implementation of safety policies, procedures, and systems across the organization
- Strengthen a positive safety culture
- Coordinate health and safety initiatives
- Help identify and address workplace hazards
- Support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Provide guidance to employees and leaders on safe work practices, risk assessments, and travel safety
- Contribute to training, onboarding, inspections, audits, and ongoing health and safety communications
Requirements
- At least 2 years' experience in developing and/or maintaining a workplace safety management system
- Bachelor’s Degree, Diploma, or Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
- Strong understanding of relevant legislation such as all provincial and territorial Occupational Health and Safety Acts, Codes, and Regulations, and applicable standards
- Experience applying project and change management principles and practices to health and safety initiatives
- Experience working in health and capacity for community-based programs (such as mobile social workers, personal support workers, etc.)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Working knowledge of English and French and lived or work experience with Indigenous communities is preferred.
