About the role

  • Data Engineering Manager overseeing software engineering and infrastructure development in legal AI at Clio. Collaborating with product and design to address business challenges and develop technical solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with Product, Design, and other business stakeholders to understand the challenges our business faces, identify the most impactful opportunities, and craft a roadmap for the team
  • Working with your team on designing technical solutions
  • Actively contributing to the project by writing and shipping production-level code
  • Giving clear feedback on code reviews, architectural documents, and more to support team members with making sound technical decisions for their projects
  • Regular 1:1 meetings with your direct reports to make sure they are supported in their career growth and development goals
  • Actively participating in hiring to grow the engineering teams at Clio

Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in people leadership in software engineering, particularly with large scale SaaS products
  • A history in hands-on software development and data engineering
  • A diverse knowledge base that allows you to help your team solve complex technical problems
  • Strong opinions that are loosely held, and you foster that same attitude in others
  • A habit of providing consistent, honest, and actionable feedback to your team and encouraging your team to reciprocate
  • Experience creating roadmaps that guide your team, but you aren't bound to them - you easily adapt to a constantly changing world
  • An interest in improving your craft by using AI
  • Serious bonus points if you have: A philosophy on what makes for great software engineering teams
  • Experience with Databricks and/or AWS
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code such as Terraform
