About the role
- Data Lakehouse Specialist helping Cloudera customers modernize cloud-native analytics platforms. Designing lakehouse architectures, supporting sales engagements, and enabling BI and AI-ready data use cases.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer engagements by designing and presenting scalable, cloud-native lakehouse architectures and business outcomes
- Provide domain expertise throughout the sales cycle, supporting PoCs, solution sizing, and customer adoption
- Focus on self-serve BI, open table formats, and AI-ready data analytics
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving query performance, concurrent workload management, and data federation
- Lead technical escalations and provide guidance
- Drive internal and external technical enablement
- Explore analytical engines, develop educational materials, and share data warehousing best practices
- Translate customer feedback and region-specific requirements into product and engineering insights
- Participate in community activities, speak at events, and contribute to knowledge sharing
- Collaborate with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams
- Travel to customer sites and Cloudera hubs approximately once per month
Requirements
- Proven experience leading and implementing mission-critical data warehousing and BI use cases
- Proven experience designing, building, and deploying enterprise-grade data lakehouses and big data analytics platforms on cloud-native architectures
- Hands-on expertise with Apache Iceberg, Trino, Apache Hive, and Apache Impala
- Strong background architecting production data deployments across hybrid and multi-cloud environments
- Expertise in massive-scale BI, ad-hoc analytics, and building an AI-ready data foundation
- Demonstrated ability to run PoCs and MVPs leading to enterprise-grade production deployments
- Experience ensuring high-concurrency query performance and cost optimization
- Experience designing data-intensive architectures, including data modeling, security, data quality, and governance
- Exceptional presentation skills with technical and executive audiences
- Ability to analyze customer data warehouse workloads and define technical migration or modernization roadmaps
- Prior pre-sales or technical consulting experience is a bonus
- Experience with Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, or Teradata is a bonus
- Experience with dbt, Star Schema, or Data Vault is a bonus
- Experience with open-source software and development practices is a bonus
- Familiarity with Cloudera Data Warehouse, Cloudera Machine Learning, and Shared Data Experience is a bonus
- Relevant technical certifications are a bonus
- Working knowledge of Apache Spark and Airflow is a bonus
