About the role

  • Data and digital solutions specialist supporting Peel Region’s water and wastewater operations. Developing analytics, Maximo solutions, predictive models, dashboards and digital process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop sophisticated algorithms, models, statistical representations, pattern recognition and data visualizations for structured and unstructured data
  • Build reports, dashboards and metrics using business intelligence tools such as Microsoft Power BI
  • Complete user needs assessments, scope and develop digital solutions for divisional staff
  • Provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop user and technical design documentation and end-user training
  • Work with project teams to understand, document and validate requirements
  • Design and implement user interfaces, maintain programs and applications, and develop automated processes
  • Identify and assess data sources for research and information requests
  • Extract, transform and analyze data from operational systems and other sources
  • Prepare management reports, metrics and dashboards
  • Support implementation of the Region’s Work Order Management (Maximo) system as technical expert for Operations teams
  • Design, develop and maintain an enterprise asset metadata repository
  • Mine data to discover trends and patterns and validate assumptions and processes
  • Build predictive models using decision trees, logistic regression and Structural Equation Modeling
  • Conduct advanced statistical analysis and problem-solving across programs and services
  • Develop advanced web graphics and interactive dashboards for decision-makers and the general public
  • Design, develop and maintain divisional performance measurement scorecards and dashboards
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

  • A University Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, Data Management/Science or related discipline
  • 3 years direct relevant work experience
  • Considerable experience in Business Intelligence, Business Analytics, Business Strategy or Data Warehousing, Software Development, and Enterprise Asset Management
  • Advanced analytics, descriptive and predictive modeling skills using SPSS, SAS, STATA, R and text analytics tools
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Power Platform: Power BI, PowerApps, Power Automate and SharePoint
  • Experience with ETL and RPA tools
  • Experience working with JSON, XML, JavaScript, Python and SQL file formats
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools
  • Ability to combine artificial intelligence, pattern recognition, databases, traditional statistics and graphics to identify hidden relationships and patterns
  • Experience extracting valuable insights from large data pools
  • Considerable experience extracting, transforming and loading data from operational systems
  • Considerable experience in business reporting, performance measurement and decision support systems
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Project management experience and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis clearly, precisely and actionably
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for presenting technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Strong facilitation skills for delivering training on technical solutions
