About the role

  • Supervisor of Systems Engineering leading a team at Comtech Telecommunications Corp. Responsible for system design, integration, and lifecycle management of Agency Solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily leadership, coaching, and guidance to systems engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage team assignments, workload distribution, and prioritization of engineering tasks.
  • Conduct regular 1 on 1 meetings, performance check-ins, and contribute to annual reviews and development planning.
  • Mentor engineers in technical growth, documentation quality, and project execution.
  • Coordinate the intake, assignment, and tracking of requests from Product Line Management, Sales, Manufacturing, and Project teams.
  • Ensure engineering tasks are completed on schedule and meet defined standards for quality, accuracy, and documentation.
  • Maintain team processes, SOPs, and best practices to ensure consistency across engineering outputs.
  • Support the integration of new tools, workflows, and automation to improve team efficiency.
  • Provide senior-level technical guidance on system design, networking, integration, and security.
  • Review and approve engineering design artifacts, documentation, build guides, and standards.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex technical challenges, customer issues, and cross-functional integration questions.
  • Ensure technical alignment between engineering teams, PLM, manufacturing, and security.
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, PLM, Sales Engineering, Project Engineering, and Security teams to ensure solutions meet functional, compliance, and customer needs.
  • Facilitate communication and information flow between engineering teams and other internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in roadmap discussions, planning sessions, and technical reviews to represent team capabilities and constraints.
  • Ensure engineering outputs follow security-hardening best practices, version control standards, and documentation requirements.
  • Support security reviews and work with cybersecurity teams to validate remediation activities.
  • Promote adherence to standardized configurations, build templates, and architecture guidelines.
  • Assist with training efforts for internal technical teams on new products, infrastructure components, or third-party solutions.
  • Provide improvements to systems, tools, and engineering workflows.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, network engineering, or technical product integration.
  • Demonstrated technical expertise in networking, system architecture, VoIP, or hardware/software integration.
  • Prior experience leading projects, mentoring team members, or acting as a technical lead.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Previous people-leadership or supervision experience.
  • Experience in manufacturing support or hardware-centric product environments.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity practices, system hardening, and secure configuration baselines.
  • Experience with VoIP, telecom systems, or custom hardware platforms.
  • Experience defining processes, standards, or quality assurance frameworks.
  • Bilingual in French and English is an asset.
