About the role
- Junior/Intermediate Systems Engineer providing engineering advice and managing requirements for diverse client projects. Supporting systems engineering across various lifecycle phases for BMT.
Responsibilities
- Provides and independently undertakes general and systems engineering advice and support to internal and external clients in various systems lifecycle phases.
- Provides and independently undertakes general and specific requirements management services to internal and external clients in one or more of these areas:
- Requirements Elicitation: Execution of elicitation activities, analysis of customer and stakeholder needs, documentation of the outputs.
- Requirements Definition: Translation of needs into requirements in accordance with guidelines and best practices.
- Requirements Specification: Development of requirements specifications, such as Technical Requirements Specifications and Statements of Work.
- Requirements Analysis: Decomposition and allocation of requirements, development of impact assessments, traceability analysis and requirements completion assessments.
- Requirements Verification and Validation: Various activities performed on requirements and specifications to ensure quality standards and stakeholder needs are met.
- Requirements Management: Support to the design and implementation of requirements specification infrastructures, development of requirements engineering plans, processes, and procedures.
- Gains exposure to educational workshops, professional publications and/or professional societies.
- Additionally, the incumbent may support the Combat & Systems Engineering team in various technical and project management work, such as:
- Application of systems engineering principles, regulations, and standards to various applications.
- Conducting engineering assessments, feasibility studies and technical investigations.
- Support various projects in a systems engineering capacity in combat and military systems, cybersecurity, naval systems and platforms, and others.
Requirements
- A university degree in Engineering or Applied Science
- A minimum 4 years’ experience in an engineering working environment
- Practical experience with one or more of these Requirement Engineering areas: Elicitation, Definition, Specification, Analysis, Verification and Validation, Management
- Good problem-solving skills
- Good organizational skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer
- Experience in a systems engineering role for a complex project (system-of-systems and/or system involving multiple sub-systems)
- Familiarity in the operation, configuration and administration of requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS and Cradle, or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
