Junior/Intermediate Systems Engineer providing engineering advice and managing requirements for diverse client projects. Supporting systems engineering across various lifecycle phases for BMT.
Responsibilities
Provides and independently undertakes general and systems engineering advice and support to internal and external clients in various systems lifecycle phases.
Provides and independently undertakes general and specific requirements management services to internal and external clients in one or more of these areas:
Requirements Elicitation: Execution of elicitation activities, analysis of customer and stakeholder needs, documentation of the outputs.
Requirements Definition: Translation of needs into requirements in accordance with guidelines and best practices.
Requirements Specification: Development of requirements specifications, such as Technical Requirements Specifications and Statements of Work.
Requirements Analysis: Decomposition and allocation of requirements, development of impact assessments, traceability analysis and requirements completion assessments.
Requirements Verification and Validation: Various activities performed on requirements and specifications to ensure quality standards and stakeholder needs are met.
Requirements Management: Support to the design and implementation of requirements specification infrastructures, development of requirements engineering plans, processes, and procedures.
Gains exposure to educational workshops, professional publications and/or professional societies.
Additionally, the incumbent may support the Combat & Systems Engineering team in various technical and project management work, such as:
Application of systems engineering principles, regulations, and standards to various applications.
Conducting engineering assessments, feasibility studies and technical investigations.
Support various projects in a systems engineering capacity in combat and military systems, cybersecurity, naval systems and platforms, and others.
Requirements
A university degree in Engineering or Applied Science
A minimum 4 years’ experience in an engineering working environment
Practical experience with one or more of these Requirement Engineering areas: Elicitation, Definition, Specification, Analysis, Verification and Validation, Management
Good problem-solving skills
Good organizational skills
Good written and oral communication skills
Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer
Experience in a systems engineering role for a complex project (system-of-systems and/or system involving multiple sub-systems)
Familiarity in the operation, configuration and administration of requirements management tools such as IBM DOORS and Cradle, or Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
