About the role

  • Bilingual collections specialist recovering overdue residential and commercial mortgage payments for Equitable Bank. Negotiating payment arrangements, managing delinquent accounts, and coordinating loan servicing.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and collect overdue payments within residential and commercial mortgage loan portfolios
  • Conduct inbound and outbound collection activities using various communication methods and collection tools
  • Establish and document reasons for past-due accounts, identify at-risk customers, and propose suitable solutions
  • Negotiate payment arrangements to bring accounts current and identify customers requiring additional assistance
  • Refer accounts for legal action once required collection steps are completed
  • Meet quality, compliance, privacy, and customer service standards
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of correspondence, payment arrangements, communications, and follow-ups
  • Update mortgage systems with client and loan information
  • Collaborate with other teams on collections, breach resolution, and loan servicing
  • Follow applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines

Requirements

  • Diploma program in a related discipline or 2 years of demonstrated collections experience
  • Knowledge of commercial and residential lending products
  • Knowledge of related legal terminology and applicable provincial and federal legislation
  • Ability to multitask while navigating various systems and communicating with customers
  • Strong active listening, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy while remaining firm and handle difficult situations
  • Self-motivated, able to complete critical tasks independently, and able to prioritize
  • Knowledge of PPlus and Collector systems is an asset
  • Computer literacy with MS Outlook, MS Word, and Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Bilingual French is required
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and credit check required for hire
