About the role
- Senior Data Developer building AWS data and analytics solutions for FCC, a Canadian agriculture financing and software provider. Designing integrations, models and cloud-native applications.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and develop new code, including automation, integration and unit tests
- Utilize AWS frameworks and patterns, primarily infrastructure as code with CDK
- Collaborate on architectural direction and own solution design and implementation
- Ensure technical solutions and system integrations are efficient and effective
- Implement code fixes and support user testing
- Participate in or lead group design and coding sessions
- Participate in or lead data processing application design sessions
- Participate in or lead data model and analytics design and development
- Contribute to code reviews and provide constructive feedback
- Explain complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical personnel
- Collaborate with analytics users and machine learning/data science specialists using cloud-native development
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or engineering
- Minimum seven years of software development experience (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Experience partnering with technical and non-technical stakeholders to explain complex data solutions, gather feedback and translate business needs into effective technical outcomes
- Expert-level proficiency in some or all of: AWS Glue, Step Functions, S3, Redshift, Quicksight, Lambda, EventBridge and AppFlow
- Expert-level proficiency in some or all of: Python, PySpark, TypeScript and SQL
- Proven knowledge of common design patterns, including object-oriented programming and functional programming paradigms
- Experience optimizing design to enable business value creation through analytics
- Demonstrated experience with code reviews, application design and system integration
- Proven troubleshooting skills
- Preferred: architectural and data modelling expertise
- Preferred: data modelling experience in Data Vault 2.0 and Dimensional, Star Schema methodologies
- Preferred: experience coaching and mentoring peers through informal leadership
- Preferred: experience building automation and integration tests and designing easy-to-use frameworks
- Preferred: lending business knowledge, ideally within Canadian agriculture
- English required
