About the role
- Technical Writer creating text and graphics that help Genetec software customers use products independently. Collaborating with developers, support, marketing, and training teams.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team, writing in a common style
- Collaborate with content creators to develop and document content guidelines
- Understand complex technical concepts by testing software and interviewing developers and technical support teams
- Gather and incorporate feedback from internal and external customers
- Design and create text and graphics to help customers become self-sufficient and reduce support calls
- Participate in user interface reviews to make products easier to use
- Interact with developers, customer support, marketing, and training teams
- Receive coaching and onboarding training on products, tools, and processes
Requirements
- 5 years of experience in a similar role
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical information to different types of audiences
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and deliver high-quality content
- Comfortable communicating with a variety of stakeholders and subject matter experts
- Knowledge of technical writing methods, trends, and technologies, including structured authoring, single sourcing, and content reuse
- Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written
- DITA and XML-based authoring tools (asset)
- Video editing tools such as Captivate and Camtasia (asset)
- Portfolio of written and visual work (asset)
- Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience (asset)
