About the role

  • Software architecture leader developing T&D configuration platforms for grid automation and digital substations. Guiding cloud-native, IEC 61850-compliant solutions for energy-sector customers.

Responsibilities

  • Define the architecture and evolution of scalable, modular, and secure software platforms for T&D configuration systems
  • Define technical strategy and oversee the design of cloud-native platforms supporting desktop, edge, and cloud deployments
  • Drive integration of IEC 61850 engineering workflows and SCL-based ICD, SCD, and SSD into automated tooling ecosystems
  • Align firmware, UI/UX, and power systems teams for coherent system design and integration
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity, systems, and hardware architects to deliver secure, compliant critical-infrastructure solutions
  • Drive reuse of software components across product lines
  • Oversee configuration and commissioning tools for protection and control devices and their integration with SCADA/DMS/EMS and other utility systems
  • Conduct software and architecture reviews and ensure compliance with IEC 61850, IEC 61968/70, CIM, and IEC 62351
  • Manage the end-to-end software development lifecycle from requirements through deployment and support
  • Partner with architects, systems engineers, and utility customers to deliver customer-centric grid solutions
  • Monitor emerging cloud-native, model-driven engineering, and AI/ML technologies and contribute to roadmaps, product strategy, and IP generation
  • Mentor software engineers and represent the organization in customer engagements, RFPs, and industry events

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • Extensive experience in software engineering, including experience in a technical leadership or software architecture role
  • Proven track record designing and delivering software solutions for T&D systems, energy automation, or industrial control domains
  • Expertise in utility standards and protocols: IEC 61850, CIM, IEC 61968/70, and IEC 62351
  • Strong skills in .NET, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, UI frameworks, backend systems, and containerized/cloud deployments
  • Knowledge of data modeling, API integration, network communications, and cybersecurity practices
  • Familiarity with configuration management systems, substation design tools, and SCADA/DMS/EMS integration
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills
  • Experience operating in a matrixed global organization and managing distributed engineering teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset
  • Thought leadership through publications, standards participation, or conference speaking
  • Willingness to travel for key customer engagements, internal collaboration, or industry events
