About the role

  • Technicien sénior concevant, inspectant et documentant des ouvrages maritimes et portuaires chez GHD. Coordination multidisciplinaire, contrôle qualité et soutien à la construction au Québec.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineers and project managers with the planning, design, drafting and detailing of marine, port, coastal and transportation infrastructure.
  • Prepare technical drawings, plans and documents using CAD software and other design tools.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams in structural, geotechnical, hydraulic, civil, mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Communicate with project teams, clients and contractors.
  • Conduct site inspections, surveys and quality control during construction and rehabilitation projects.
  • Participate in field investigations, sampling and materials testing.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical reports, specifications and quantity estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards and safety regulations.
  • Mentor and support junior technicians and new team members.
  • Provide specialized advice and support during construction, inspections and quality control activities.
  • Perform tasks across multiple concurrent projects while meeting budgets and schedules.
  • Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation and client reports.
  • Maintain compliance with GHD’s quality, environmental management, and occupational health and safety systems.
  • Produce clear and accurate drawings and documents for clients and project teams.
  • Play a leading role on the Marine Structures team by planning, coordinating and overseeing the delivery of diverse projects.
  • Continuously enhance the team’s knowledge of best practices in the constructability and sustainability of marine and coastal structures.
  • Provide high-quality technical support for the design, inspection and construction of marine works and structures.

Requirements

  • College certificate, Diploma of College Studies (DEC) or technical diploma in civil engineering technology or a related field.
  • Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience as a technician in the heavy civil engineering sector.
  • Strong technical drafting and design skills, with proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D and Revit.
  • Skills in analyzing, managing and integrating GIS geospatial data into engineering projects.
  • Experience with site inspections, construction monitoring and quality control of concrete structures.
  • Knowledge of concrete, steel and timber materials, construction techniques and repair methods.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills in French and English.
  • Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
  • Technical leadership and initiative in supporting complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Experience mentoring and training junior staff.
  • Commitment to maintaining a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Practical knowledge of applicable Canadian and Quebec standards, as well as current industry guidelines and practices.
  • Availability to travel throughout Quebec, Canada and internationally, as required by project needs.
