About the role
- P2P Node.js Engineer expanding core P2P networking and storage primitives at Holepunch. Building apps without infrastructure using peer-to-peer technology for data privacy.
Responsibilities
- Expand and strengthen core P2P networking and storage primitives
- Work on wide surface area of P2P technology
Requirements
- Extensive knowledge of P2P protocols (Kademlia, BitTorrent, libp2p, hypercore)
- Demonstrable experience optimizing network protocols for performance
- Advanced JavaScript skills for implementing high-performance networking code
- Deep understanding of UDP and TCP/IP networking, including NAT traversal techniques
- Experience implementing custom binary protocols and serialization formats
- Familiarity with cryptographic primitives for secure P2P communication
- Experience with performance profiling and optimization of networked systems
- 5+ years experience building production P2P systems or distributed systems (preferred)
- Experience optimizing JavaScript for low-latency networking applications (preferred)
- Knowledge of V8 internals and JavaScript performance characteristics (preferred)
- Experience with libuv and asynchronous I/O in C (preferred)
- Contributions to open-source P2P projects or networking libraries (preferred)
- Experience building reliable systems on unreliable networks (preferred)
- Experience with Node.js native addons and bridging between JS and C (preferred)
