About the role

  • Principal Clinical Data Science Programmer leading clinical trial data programming for ICON, a global healthcare intelligence and research organization. Developing CDMS, analytics, integrations, and automation solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and maintain programming solutions for CDMS/EDC systems such as Rave and Veeva
  • Develop and maintain programs for handling external vendor data
  • Perform CDMS data extracts and create data transfer programs
  • Create data validation and analytics outputs, data review/risk management outputs, custom reports, and clinical trial programs
  • Collaborate with data managers, project managers, biostatisticians, and other positions to integrate programming solutions into data management processes
  • Serve as primary contact for system programming questions during study setup and maintenance
  • Participate in internal and external meetings and provide constructive feedback
  • Mentor and provide guidance, training, and support to other programmers
  • Support knowledge sharing through presentations and training materials
  • Improve technical systems and processes in an SME role
  • Stay current on programming languages and data management tools
  • Provide final-level technical review and consultation for complex programming activities
  • Provide technical leadership for cross-study and program-level analytics initiatives
  • Lead innovative analytical techniques, automation strategies, and process improvements

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in programming for EDC systems (Rave), including data validation outputs, data review/risk management outputs, custom reports, and programs in clinical trials
  • Data Analytics experience (SAS, SQL, R, etc.)
  • Prior experience leading, training, and mentoring junior programmers
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as SAS, R, and/or Python
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, with a commitment to delivering high-quality results
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse teams and influence outcomes
  • Advanced English communication, writing and reading skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, statistics, life sciences, or other relevant fields
  • Legal right to work in the country where the role is based
