About the role

  • Senior Fullstack Engineer building frontend, backend, and AI applications for Ignition’s revenue and billing automation platform. Leading scalable product delivery with TypeScript, React, Ruby, and Rails.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of high-impact product and platform work across frontend and backend systems
  • Work hands-on across frontend and backend systems and help shape technical direction
  • Partner with product and design to build pragmatic, high-quality software at scale
  • Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of production-ready AI applications at scale
  • Build new features and improve and maintain existing frontend and backend functionality
  • Lead projects by collaborating with product, design, and stakeholders to turn ambiguous requirements into reliable implementations
  • Develop and share AI skills, workflows, and automations with organizational impact
  • Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and user-facing application features
  • Integrate data from backend services, systems, and databases
  • Analyze data, processes, and code to troubleshoot problems and identify improvements
  • Research, produce proofs of concept, and evaluate methodologies and technologies
  • Participate in code reviews and share and adopt engineering best practices
  • Write and maintain software documentation
  • Optimize applications for speed, scalability, and maintainability
  • Help shape the technical direction of full-stack development
  • Mentor and guide engineers through collaboration, coaching, and day-to-day support

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or a related field and 6+ years of experience, or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong experience building and maintaining production web applications across frontend and backend systems
  • High proficiency with agentic AI-native development and rapid idea-to-production delivery
  • High proficiency with TypeScript, React.js, and modern JavaScript tooling; backend experience ideally with Ruby and Ruby on Rails
  • Experience designing and consuming GraphQL or REST APIs
  • Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq/GoodJob, and backend data flows
  • Competence in clean code architecture, data structures and algorithms, distributed systems, and background job processing
  • Knowledge of authentication, authorization, secure software design, caching strategies, design patterns, and scalable application architecture
  • Experience integrating third-party APIs and services
  • Desire to write testable, well-tested code
  • Deep experience with agentic development tools such as Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar
  • Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical direction
  • Ability to engage in robust, articulate dialogue while maintaining an open mind
  • Strong problem-solving skills and sound engineering judgment
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Pragmatic, objective mindset and ability to evaluate options based on requirements, fit, and technology maturity
  • Skillful and dependable approach
  • Authorization to work in Toronto, Canada or British Columbia
