About the role
- Data Science PhD Intern analyzing data and driving product strategy at Instacart. Collaborating with product teams to solve business problems through data analysis and experimentation.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with a senior member of the team as a strategic partner to Product and Engineering
- Ownership of a self-contained project tackling an ambiguous business problem
- Solve ambiguous problems by structuring open-ended questions into solvable applied problems
- Design and analyze complex experiments to measure causal impact
- Synthesize findings into strategic recommendations presented to senior leadership
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field
- Strong proficiency in SQL
- Fluency in Python or R for statistical modeling and data analysis
- Expertise in experimentation and applied statistical and machine learning methods
- Ability to 'think on your feet', with a demonstrated ability to break down complex, unstructured problems
