About the role

  • Interim email marketing manager advancing Khan Academy’s end-of-year fundraising campaigns. Building segmented SFMC email journeys and persuasive donor communications for its free education platform.

Responsibilities

  • Sustain and advance digital fundraising efforts during the end-of-year fundraising campaign
  • Report to the Director of Philanthropy
  • Draft fundraising appeals using distinct organizational personas, including Sal Khan, the Chief External Affairs Officer, and the Community Giving Manager
  • Write and edit email copy for October, November, and December aligned with campaign messaging, brand voice, and donor stewardship goals
  • Support mid-level email copywriting for the Community Giving to Mid Level upgrade campaign and other emails as needed
  • Use existing AI tools to streamline copy editing and email production
  • Create email journeys and one-off emails requiring advanced segmentation and personalization for Community Giving and Mid Level
  • Manage complex email data extensions in collaboration with fundraising managers and marketing email experts
  • Ensure email quality assurance and accuracy
  • Collaborate with fundraising managers and the design team on visual assets aligned with the end-of-year strategic narrative
  • Collaborate across fundraising during the end-of-year campaign, participate in meetings as necessary, and respond to Slack questions and requests during business hours
  • Contract expected to end on 1/4/2027

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in digital fundraising or similar mass marketing effort
  • Experience using AI for copywriting and ability to pivot between different executive voices and write high-converting, empathetic copy
  • Experience in audience segmentation and A/B testing methodologies
  • Experience building emails in email service providers, preferably SFMC
  • Experience working with fundraising and marketing design and paid media teams to create a cohesive multi-channel experience
  • Ability to manage email production and campaigns across functions, set timelines, ensure timely completion, and flag potential issues or blockers
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
