About the role
- Software engineering intern building products for Khan Academy, a nonprofit providing free education worldwide. Contributing code across Go, JavaScript, React, GraphQL, and cloud technologies.
Responsibilities
- Participate in Khan Academy’s 12-week remote Summer 2027 software engineering internship
- Learn and use technologies such as Go, JavaScript, React, React Native, Redux, Flow, Google Cloud Run, and GraphQL
- Write code and build products used by millions of learners and teachers
- Work on projects such as Khanmigo speech-to-text, calculator UI, classroom teacher tools, and PhET content integration
- Learn new technologies through onboarding and engineering mentorship
- Collaborate through regular feedback and inclusive, cross-cultural teamwork
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in computer science or a related field
- Expected graduation date in 2028 or 2029 (rising Junior or Senior)
- At least one previous software internship experience
- Ability to start in May 2027 or June 2027 and have 10–12 weeks of availability
- Ability to work/live within the United States or Canada for the duration of the internship
- Ability to learn and use AI-assisted development tools for coding, debugging, and testing, including reviewing and validating AI-generated code with mentor guidance

- Eagerness to learn, educate, write code, and build products used by millions
- Strong communication, thoughtfulness, and desire to give and receive regular feedback
