About the role
- Senior backend developer building AI-agent systems for Knak, an enterprise email and landing-page marketing automation platform. Designing APIs and microservices with PHP, Python, Node.js, MySQL, and AWS while mentoring engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design and build robust systems powering AI agents for Knak’s AI platform
- Develop and maintain testable, observable, and performant RESTful APIs with Laravel (PHP)
- Build Python and Node.js microservices for AI agent hosting and LLM interaction
- Apply object-oriented and functional programming across the stack
- Tune MySQL queries and indexing to improve speed and reduce latency
- Use AWS services, including Lambda and CDN delivery, to build secure, scalable infrastructure
- Lead and participate in code reviews
- Collaborate with product, design, QA, and DevOps to align solutions with business needs
- Mentor engineers and promote technical excellence
- Contribute to architecture decisions and shape the future of marketing automation
Requirements
- 6+ years of backend software development experience
- Strong proficiency in PHP (Laravel), Python, Node.js, and MySQL
- Expertise in RESTful APIs, TDD, and CI/CD with GitHub Actions
- Experience with SaaS architecture, microservices, and AWS
- Knowledge of observability, performance tuning, and scalability
- Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset
- Experience in AI-powered product development (nice to have)
- Background with LLMs, LangGraph, or AI agent frameworks (nice to have)
- Prior experience in a fast-growing SaaS company (nice to have)
