About the role

  • Director guiding Quebec and Atlantic Canada advisors on portfolio construction, risk, and communication. Supporting Manulife’s investment consulting program through referrals and advisor engagements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead one-on-one investment consulting engagements focused on portfolio construction, asset allocation, downside risk management, implementation efficiency, and advisor communication
  • Analyze advisor portfolios to identify concentration risk, style drift, hidden overlap, recency bias, improper weightings, and insufficient downside protection
  • Translate portfolio findings into practical recommendations tailored to each advisor’s platform, client base, philosophy, and business constraints
  • Equip advisors with portfolio narratives for use with clients and prospects
  • Build and maintain referral relationships with wholesaler colleagues
  • Qualify advisors for the program and manage an active pipeline of consulting opportunities
  • Support occasional branch visits, dealer events and conferences, and internal presentations
  • Partner with Manulife Investments wholesalers, investment specialists, and distribution colleagues to uncover advisor opportunities, generate referrals, and extend the consulting program’s reach
  • Maintain administrative discipline to keep engagements running at a consistently high standard

Requirements

  • CFA, CIM, or comparable advanced investment designation strongly preferred; CAIA, CIMA, or FRM considered strong assets
  • 5+ years of experience in investment consulting, portfolio analytics, asset management, or a related investment-focused role
  • Deep understanding of modern portfolio theory, asset allocation, risk management, and fixed income across major asset classes
  • Strong working knowledge of mutual funds, ETFs, SMAs, model portfolios, and alternative investments
  • Proven ability to convert portfolio analytics into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills
  • High proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with Morningstar, YCharts, Jacobi/Second Engine, or similar tools considered an asset
  • Fully bilingual in French and English
  • University degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
