Responsibilities
- Communicate and collaborate with sales and head office colleagues to provide high-quality, competitive decisions to high-net-worth customers
- Conduct risk assessment and classification according to Manulife’s philosophy and standards
- Maintain positive and effective relationships with internal and external partners
- Deliver a strong customer experience through meaningful interactions
- Apply consumer laws and regulations related to risk classification, confidentiality, and disclosure
- Identify and propose solutions to problems and procedures related to underwriting work
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience
- $5,000,000+ life signing authority
- Experience and exposure in the high-net-worth market
- Sales- and relationship-focused mindset with drive to earn and retain business
- Working toward or completion of FALU, FLMI, and ACS designations
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, including physiology, anatomy, pharmacology, imaging, diagnostic testing, and treatments
- Strong knowledge of how non-medical risks affect mortality, including hazardous occupations, sports, avocations, and lifestyle
- Experience with financial reports
- Training in anti-money laundering practices
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Bilingualism in English and French is required for successful candidates in Québec
- $100,000+ CI authority is preferred
- University or college degree in a related discipline is preferred
- Strong negotiation skills are preferred
- Interest in representing the company through external presentations, panels, or conferences is preferred
- Experience in co-signing, referral reviews, and mentoring is preferred
