Senior Android Engineer building Manulife’s secure Android banking app. Shaping mobile architecture, reliability, and digital experiences for millions of Canadian customers.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain high-quality Android applications
Own features from concept through delivery
Ensure solutions are scalable, maintainable, and aligned with customer needs
Contribute to architecture and technical decisions
Collaborate with product managers, designers, backend engineers, and stakeholders
Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing
Use feature flags, experimentation, and customer feedback to improve mobile experiences
Explore emerging technologies and innovative development approaches
Improve application reliability, performance, security, monitoring, and deployment automation
Contribute to shared tools, frameworks, and engineering practices
Use GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jira, Confluence, and Microsoft Teams

Experience building, shipping, and maintaining production Android applications using Kotlin and/or Java
Strong knowledge of modern Android development practices, including MVVM architecture
Experience creating scalable, maintainable, and testable software solutions
Knowledge of dependency injection and modular application design
Experience working with RESTful APIs and backend engineering teams
Understanding of secure authentication and authorization, including OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect (OIDC)
Commitment to software quality through testing, automation, performance optimization, and security best practices
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Experience guiding technical decisions, influencing engineering practices, or mentoring developers
Curiosity, adaptability, growth mindset, and commitment to continuous learning
Jetpack Compose and modern Android UI frameworks preferred
Kotlin Flow or RxJava preferred
Mobile accessibility and accessibility testing preferred
Experience in regulated industries preferred
Biometrics, passkeys, and multi-factor authentication preferred
JUnit, Espresso, or Appium preferred
New Relic, SonarQube, or Snyk preferred
GitHub Copilot preferred
