About the role
- Senior Cloud Engineer designing and operating AWS, Azure, and GCP infrastructure for Sleep Country Canada, a sleep wellness retailer. Improving reliability, security, automation, and cloud performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain multi-cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Configure compute, storage, networking, and cloud services for scalability and resilience
- Perform maintenance, patching, and environment updates
- Monitor cloud systems and services for uptime and performance
- Investigate incidents, troubleshoot problems, perform root-cause analysis, and remediate infrastructure issues
- Participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule
- Develop automation scripts and CI/CD pipelines
- Use infrastructure-as-code to provision and configure cloud resources
- Implement automated build, test, and deployment processes with DevOps and development teams
- Analyze performance metrics and optimize efficiency, reliability, cost, resource usage, and application performance
- Evaluate and adopt AIOps, intelligent monitoring, and auto-remediation technologies
- Improve operational playbooks, runbooks, and knowledge bases
- Implement security and compliance controls and follow IT security policies and regulatory requirements
- Remediate vulnerabilities, manage cloud access and encryption keys, and support audits and governance
- Maintain configuration and change-management documentation
- Collaborate with Cloud Ops, DevOps, Developers, Security, vendors, and stakeholders
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems or a related field
- Approximately 5+ years of progressive experience in IT infrastructure or cloud engineering, focused on deploying and managing cloud-based environments
- Experience supporting complex, distributed systems and services in a production (24/7) environment
- Hands-on knowledge of AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including compute, storage, networking, and managed services
- Proficiency designing highly available, scalable cloud architectures and implementing cloud networking concepts, including VPC/VNet configuration, security groups, and load balancers
- Understanding of virtualization and containerization technologies; Kubernetes experience is an asset
- Strong experience with infrastructure automation and DevOps practices
- Proficiency writing PowerShell, Python, or Bash scripts
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or Azure DevOps
- Familiarity with Terraform or CloudFormation
- Experience with monitoring, incident management, and performance tuning for cloud-based systems
- Experience using observability tools such as Dynatrace, Datadog, or CloudWatch
- Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement fixes under pressure
- Comfortable working in an on-call rotation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Curiosity and adaptability with evolving cloud technologies and practices
- Experience with BigCommerce, Shopify, or similar cloud-based eCommerce platforms
- Familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and/or Oracle Fusion Cloud applications is an asset
