About the role

  • Cloud Security Engineer securing Mercury’s fintech infrastructure through AWS architecture, resilience, zero trust, and automated controls. Remote within the United States or Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Help build and define cloud security posture, enable cyber resilience, and support zero trust initiatives
  • Apply Governance, Risk and Compliance principles to cloud engineering
  • Collaborate with infrastructure and engineering teams to improve cloud infrastructure reliability and security
  • Automate cloud security controls to minimize threats, vulnerabilities, and risk
  • Shape Mercury's AWS cloud architecture around resilience, least privilege, and long-term maintainability
  • Address remote access challenges in Mercury's remote-first environment
  • Work with teams and stakeholders across Mercury to address cloud security concerns

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in cloud security, networking, information security, or related fields
  • Strong desire to learn and grow, with a proven track record of doing so
  • Familiarity with security frameworks and privacy regulations, including NIST CSF, FFIEC, SOX, SOC2, GLBA, ISO27018, and PCI-DSS
  • Deep problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to act calmly and competently in high-pressure, high-stress situations
  • Fundamental understanding of accepted security practices, troubleshooting, attack vectors, and customer support
  • Familiarity with information as code (IaC) tooling
  • AWS certifications are encouraged
