About the role

  • MOSAIC program manager leading migrant-worker settlement services in Vancouver. Supervising staff, managing contracts and budgets, and coordinating newcomer community partnerships.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Migrant Workers Program
  • Supervise and support settlement workers, program assistants, and volunteers
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate service delivery to migrant workers collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure policies, procedures, service standards, and program delivery meet CARF standards
  • Provide direct settlement information and support to newcomer clients as needed
  • Respond to enquiries and deliver presentations to target communities and stakeholders
  • Supervise promotion and marketing activities
  • Facilitate curriculum and resource development for staff
  • Lead or participate in team, partnership, departmental, Settlement cluster, all-staff, community, and training meetings
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging settlement and community-capacity-building issues
  • Coordinate innovative services and resource materials for newcomers
  • Assist with identifying emerging newcomer needs and funding sources
  • Support development and submission of program proposals and budgets
  • Prepare and monitor contract budgets, cash flows, variances, financial statements, reports, and expense records
  • Hire, retain, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff
  • Ensure volunteers receive orientation and proper placement
  • Engage in public relations and collaborate with community organizations, stakeholders, and partners
  • Organize public education, information, and resource events
  • Attend consultations, meetings, and conferences related to settlement, labour-market integration, community development, and policy dialogue
  • Represent MOSAIC in community committees, task forces, governmental, and inter-agency networks
  • Ensure timely and accurate narrative and data reporting
  • Inform the senior manager about contractual outputs, outcomes, emerging issues, community trends, settlement-service developments, and funder feedback

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline, or a combination of education, training, and/or experience may be considered
  • At least 2 years of experience in the migrant workers space and settlement services
  • Supervisory and leadership skills
  • Financial management skills
  • Excellent knowledge of settlement procedures and organizations in British Columbia
  • Ability to work independently and lead a team
  • Cultural awareness and experience working in multicultural settings
  • Ability to communicate in English; a second language is an asset
  • Interpersonal and community-development skills
  • Initiative, organization, attention to detail, time management, multitasking, and problem-solving abilities
  • Business judgment, analytical, and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of confidentiality and privacy of client information
  • Ability to set clear, friendly professional boundaries
  • Empathetic, respectful, discreet, tactful, and patient in stressful situations
  • Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check required
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada through citizenship or permanent resident status, or hold a work permit valid for the duration of the position
  • Ability to commute to 201-2730 Commercial Drive, Vancouver, British Columbia, for in-office days
