About the role
- Systems Engineer/Technician enhancing communication systems for public safety communications in Quebec. Responsible for system staging, documentation, upgrades, and customer presentations with significant travel involved.
Responsibilities
- Lead customer presentations
- System staging
- Complete system documentation
- Perform live system upgrades
- Ensure the integrity of the architecture/design
- Carry out field engineering duties during a radio system upgrade cycle
- Upgrade/deploy various devices including network equipment, Windows-based devices, virtual machines, and Motorola proprietary devices
- Serve as a customer-facing technical resource throughout the upgrade effort
- Travel to customer sites across the Province of Quebec, Canada to perform duties
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, IT, or Networking OR 3–5 years of engineering or wireless communications experience
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident with the ability to obtain RCMP security clearance as required by government customers
- Must be fluent in both English and French
- Experience/knowledge of radio communication systems, radio propagation, RF, wireless or broadband/LTE is highly desirable
- Experience and working knowledge of IP networking, network design methodologies & troubleshooting (Ethernet, TCP/IP, L2/L3, MPLS) is highly desirable
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Juniper JNCIA-Junos, Nokia NRS1, CCNA or similar are highly desirable
- Previous experience working with one or more of Juniper, Aviat, Cisco, Nokia/Alcatel, Xtreme, Ceragon is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex topics to non-technical audiences are essential
- 50–60% travel is required for upgrade projects
