Technical Writer II creating multi-format product documentation for Motorola Solutions’ video security and access-control technologies. Collaborating with engineering, UX, support, training, and marketing teams.
Responsibilities
Own one or more documentation portfolios end-to-end, from requirements gathering and scoping through information architecture, deliverables, publishing, and long-term maintenance
Develop and update operational, installation, and configuration procedures
Publish content across web-based publications, embedded user assistance, multimedia, and paper
Interview developers, users, and technical subject matter experts to gather technical details
Create structured, user-friendly documentation focused on customer experience and content usability
Collaborate with UX, Engineering, Support, Training, and Marketing teams
Advocate for customer-first content strategy and manage change-management
Analyze tools, workflows, and deliverables to identify efficiency improvements
Recommend and lead implementation of creative process solutions
Research and champion modern solutions to improve documentation quality and customer content experiences
Requirements
Proven experience delivering various publication types, including online content syndication and multi-channel outputs
Professional proficiency with MadCap Flare authoring, single-sourcing, and publishing workflows
Hands-on experience building “HTML-first” documentation where “every page is page one” (structured, topic-based writing)
Ability to effectively utilize AI writing and productivity tools
Exceptional communication and consensus-building skills, with a track record of leading by influence across separate business teams
Strong familiarity with Jira and Confluence
Experience managing and standardizing complex hardware and/or software manuals throughout the entire product lifecycle is highly desirable
Experience approaching technical content from a customer-advocate perspective is highly desirable
Strong focus on process efficiencies and continuous workflow improvements is highly desirable
Experience with Git-based source control and Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign) is highly desirable
Bachelor's degree with 1+ years of experience in technical writing (or similar field) OR 3+ years of technical writing experience
Legal authorization to work in Canada indefinitely is required
