About the role
- Senior SDET automating testing, deployment, and validation for Akamai’s distributed cloud and edge platform. Building reliable test frameworks for microservices and platform services.
Responsibilities
- Investigate and troubleshoot deployment-related issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions across various environments
- Develop and maintain automated test frameworks for code changes, including unit, integration, and end-to-end tests
- Create and maintain test plans and test cases for microservices covering relevant scenarios and edge cases
- Collaborate on integration testing with other engineering groups and suggest improvements to testing environments
- Investigate requirements for safe deployment and rollback strategies and verify requirements during deployment
- Write and maintain scripts to automate platform service deployments
- Automate the SDLC pipeline from testing through deployment and validation
- Build and scale Service Mesh, Data Abstraction APIs, and other cloud-native platform services as part of the Compute division's Platform Engineering Team
Requirements
- 5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
- Python and Pytest knowledge
- Good understanding of modern testing methodologies
- Working knowledge of Perl and Golang
- Experience debugging across environments and reproducing failing tests locally on x86 versus ARM, natively or emulated
- Knowledge of Debian packaging
- Knowledge of QEMU's TCG versus KVM acceleration
- Good Linux fundamentals, especially performance tuning
- Experience with Bash and scripting fundamentals
- Experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and SaltStack
- Understanding of modern software development life cycle processes
- Understanding of service level objective monitoring and alerting
