Senior II Software Engineer building Akamai Cloud infrastructure and testing automation. Developing Python backends, cloud environments, and observability tools for distributed engineering teams.

Responsibilities

Enhance an application responsible for managing reservations of physical hardware used by teams for testing Akamai Cloud projects
Develop software backend that automates creation of testing environments for dozens of services and engineering teams
Contribute to virtual machine-based development environments that perform and scale to meet engineering demands
Identify bottlenecks in development and deployment strategies and propose reliability and performance improvements
Provide technical leadership by proposing improvements to coding and design patterns
Build reporting tools for tracking virtual machine and physical hardware capacity utilization
Collaborate with a global team on solutions that increase product shipping speed and confidence
Collaborate with Development and SRE teams to build and manage mission-critical lab infrastructure services and environments

8+ years of experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Experience using Python to construct robust backend services, APIs, scalable platform automation, and intuitive command-line interfaces
Proven track record developing resilient test automation frameworks for cloud infrastructure solutions
In-depth expertise in microservices, cloud networking architectures, and relational databases such as MySQL and Postgres
Proficiency in container orchestration technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes
Hands-on experience with Ansible, Terraform, and Grafana for system automation and observability
Experience guiding, mentoring, or leading junior engineering staff
