About the role
- Part-time social worker providing intake assessments and individual/group therapy for children and adolescents. Supporting outpatient mental health programs at Oak Valley Health hospitals and community partners.
Responsibilities
- Conduct intake assessments for patients in Outpatient Mental Health Services on the Child and Adolescent team
- Provide individual and group therapy
- Engage in program planning, development, and evaluation
- Work collaboratively with the interprofessional team, community partners, and agencies
- Provide virtual individual and group therapy when needed
- Work Monday to Friday during the day, with some evening sessions, and occasional Saturdays if needed
- Adjust schedules according to operational needs
Requirements
- Masters of Social Work degree (MSW)
- Current registration with Ontario College Social Work and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
- Minimum of 5-7 years of previous experience with assessment and treatment in a child and adolescent mental health setting
- Clinical experience working with child and adolescent clients who experience mental health diagnoses, and their families
- Clinical experience leading therapy groups such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Practice from a trauma-informed perspective and understanding of attachment and mindfulness-based practice
- Experience with parent education and support groups
- Excellent assessment, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Experience and willingness to provide virtual individual and group therapy using platforms such as Teams for health care if needed
- Previous experience with program planning, development, and evaluation of group and/or individual therapy
- Effective collaborative skills as a member of an interprofessional team
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Commitment to professional development
- Demonstrated good attendance and performance records
- Commitment to a healthy and safe workplace; compliance with organization policies, health and safety legislation, best practices, and mandatory education
