About the role

  • Senior Accountant supporting Plooto’s payments SaaS platform through financial reporting, controls, audits, payroll, and AP. Improving scalable finance operations with automation across multi-entity, multi-currency environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own core month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
  • Manage the full-cycle accounts payable process, including vendor invoice coding, approvals, and payment runs
  • Prepare and review revenue recognition entries, including deferred revenue
  • Maintain and reconcile prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other balance sheet schedules
  • Maintain separation of trust and operating accounts in compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policy
  • Support financial exposure reporting for payment losses, chargebacks, and disputes
  • Monitor foreign exchange exposure across multi-currency entities and support hedging documentation
  • Design and strengthen internal controls across accounting processes
  • Support year-end audit, SR&ED submission, tax filings, and regulatory reporting
  • Ensure ASPE/IFRS compliance and keep accounting policies up to date
  • Flag control gaps and support remediation efforts
  • Support North American payroll operations, including payroll accounting and reconciliations
  • Support and optimize the accounting tech stack, including Xero and Plooto
  • Partner with Business Intelligence and Engineering to automate reconciliations, reporting, and close processes
  • Support the FinOps best-practices group and optimize variable usage-based costs
  • Partner with FP&A on internal and investor reporting
  • Act as a point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, banking partners, and payment processors

Requirements

  • 3+ years of accounting experience
  • CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA completion
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with a focus on financial accounting and audit support
  • Strong knowledge of ASPE and IFRS
  • Experience in tech or payments SaaS strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated interest in process improvement, automation, and scalable finance operations
  • Comfort working in evolving, fast-paced environments with shifting priorities
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Natural problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Interest in AI, automation tools, or modern finance technology considered an asset
