About the role
- Senior Java developer designing secure, high-performance desktop applications for Portage CyberTech’s digital-trust, identity, privacy, and security solutions. Leading architecture, AI-assisted development, and product evolution.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain mission-critical Java desktop applications supporting business operations
- Participate in architectural decisions and the technological evolution of products
- Use GitHub Copilot, Agent Mode, MCP, LLMs, and agentic workflows
- Design modern, high-performance, and intuitive user interfaces
- Optimize stability, memory consumption, and performance
- Develop new features according to industry best practices
- Collaborate with Product, QA, and Support teams
- Integrate desktop applications with APIs, databases, and external services
- Contribute to the automation of testing, deployment, and quality assurance
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle in an Agile environment
- Serve as a technical reference and leader within the team
Requirements
- College diploma (DEC) or university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 8 years of software development experience
- Minimum of 5 years of experience developing Java desktop applications
- Excellent command of Java
- Experience maintaining and evolving complex software products
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivated, with technical leadership skills and a collaborative mindset
- Must be able to communicate effectively in French (spoken and written)
- Comfortable communicating in English (spoken and written) in a professional context
- Good understanding of application cybersecurity principles and secure coding practices
- Strong knowledge of the OWASP Top 10
