About the role

Engineering Manager leading BotCity’s global Platform Engineering team. Scaling Java B2B SaaS reliability, observability, security, and delivery practices.

Responsibilities

Lead, hire, and develop a high-performing, globally distributed engineering team, including career paths and performance reviews
Run a consistent cadence of 1:1s and feedback sessions that develop engineers and surface issues early
Design and evolve team structure as the organization scales
Partner with Product and peer Engineering leads to translate business priorities into team plans
Define and drive the “Brilliant Basics” roadmap covering reliability, observability, security, CI/CD, and scalable engineering practices
Own incident management, on-call rotation, and SLOs to ensure platform reliability for enterprise customers
Balance hands-on technical involvement with delegation, contributing to architecture or code-level discussions when needed
Report to the CTO

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
5+ years of software engineering experience
2+ years as an Engineering Manager leading a team of 6+ engineers
Track record of hiring, developing, and retaining engineers, including promoting ICs into senior/lead roles
Experience partnering with Product and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business goals into team plans and priorities
Proven track record building and scaling backend systems (Java) in B2B SaaS
Experience establishing or maturing engineering practices (SDLC, code review, testing, incident response) in an early or growth-stage company
Proficiency with Git, CI/CD platforms (GitHub Actions), cloud providers (AWS/Azure), and monitoring/observability tools
Experience working with MS Office/Excel, Google Suite, and Notion

English - Fluent
Ability to travel as needed to support events and meet the team
Prior experience in an early-stage, high-growth, and fast-paced startup environment
Preferred: MBA or postgraduate studies in technology management/leadership
Preferred: Experience designing org structures (pods/squads) for a scaling engineering organization
Preferred: Experience in AI/LLM-based products, agent orchestration, or automation/RPA platforms
Preferred: Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools
