Transit Scheduler coordinating accessible transportation trips for Peel Region residents. Optimizing routes, schedules, vendors, and on-time performance for TransHelp.
Responsibilities
Review schedule changes and analyze or modify schedules for additions, cancellations, no-shows, and same-day rides
Schedule trips for TransHelp buses and contracted vendors using practical and efficient methods
Monitor trip requests and determine bus/contracted vendor allocation
Accommodate stand-by requests after booking cut-off where possible
Update and maintain schedule templates
Coordinate internal and external charter requests and group bookings
Provide daily schedules to contracted vendors by fax or email
Receive, investigate, and resolve operator scheduling referrals and make recommendations
Ensure duties comply with collective agreements, TransHelp policies, operating standards, regional policies, and legislation
Monitor scheduled-trip performance, reassign trips, and adjust vehicles to ensure efficient on-time performance
Report incidents, accidents, and safety concerns to management
Use technology and resources to provide accurate information
Complete and maintain monthly trip reports
Perform trend analysis and benchmarking for trips
Make informed recommendations and provide updates
Communicate and coordinate with external vendors to meet daily trip demands
Use knowledge of the Peel Region service area, street names, landmarks, long-term care facilities, and senior day programs
Requirements
Degree or diploma in a related discipline, such as Transportation or Planning, with at least two years of transit scheduling or dispatching experience
Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to provide high-quality customer service
Organized, able to prioritize work, and able to make decisions in a fast-paced environment
Analytical ability and demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team member
Satisfactory Level 1 Criminal Record Check obtained directly from a police station; third-party background checks are not accepted
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Effective time management

Dispatching and scheduling experience with specialized transit is an asset
