About the role
- Marine Cargo Underwriter at Revau assessing risks and determining terms for commercial insurance. Building relationships with brokers and collaborating with colleagues to ensure compliance.
Responsibilities
- Liaise with brokers to negotiate and determine insurance rates, terms, and conditions
- Develop, underwrite, and service new business in line with program guidelines
- Build strong relationships with brokers through exceptional service and regular marketing visits
- Represent Revau at industry events, as required
- Collaborate with colleagues on current and future opportunities
- Review policies, wordings, and standards to ensure compliance with programs
- Confirm underwriting standards align with contracts and program needs
- Mentor Junior Underwriters on policy and contract compliance
- Approve requested endorsements and pricing according to program guidelines
- Authorize policy cancellations when necessary
Requirements
- 5–7 years of experience in Marine Cargo Insurance
- Insurance diploma is an asset
- Strong relationship-building skills with brokers and colleagues
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and negotiation skills
- Ability to synthesize complex information and adapt to change
- Strong communication and service orientation
- Proficiency in MS Office; Lotus Notes experience is a plus
