About the role

  • Desktop Administrator supporting 6,000+ users for Ryan’s enterprise IT infrastructure. Providing Tier 1-2 support, endpoint management, deployments, repairs, and office-move assistance in Calgary.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage distributed desktop and laptop systems and software
  • Provide Tier 1-2 helpdesk support for an enterprise environment of 6,000+ users
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for end users, including VP-level and executive employees
  • Respond to support tickets and service requests via phone, ticketing systems, collaboration tools, and remote support platforms
  • Support remote and in-office users while meeting SLA targets
  • Perform desktop software deployments, imaging, application installations, patching, firmware updates, and BIOS maintenance
  • Track and maintain hardware assets, inventory records, spare-parts logs, and work logs
  • Support end-user onboarding, workstation setups, office moves, hardware swaps, and equipment reconnects
  • Diagnose and repair desktop and laptop hard drives, monitors, and printers
  • Assist system, network, and IT Infrastructure administrators with complex technical tasks and server hardware installation
  • Participate in desktop administration and companywide on-call support rotations
  • Conduct testing and assist in general lab work
  • Train, mentor, and coach team members and employees
  • Assist with system backups, recovery, new software installation, and systems support
  • Maintain current Firm software versions on end-user systems
  • Follow information systems policies and controls for data accuracy, security, and legal and regulatory compliance
  • Assist with other projects and duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High-school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED)
  • Three to five years related desktop administration experience
  • Strong technical troubleshooting skills
  • Working knowledge of Windows 11, macOS, and Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneDrive)
  • Experience supporting collaboration and conferencing tools such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams
  • Hands-on experience with ticketing systems such as Ivanti or ServiceNow
  • Experience with remote support platforms like Ivanti Neurons or TeamViewer
  • Experience with endpoint management tools such as Microsoft Intune and SCCM
  • Solid understanding of Active Directory for user and device management
  • Valid driver’s license required due to occasional travel and on-site support
  • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull up to 30 lbs
  • Adherence to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Familiarity with device encryption, basic network troubleshooting, software deployment, firmware updates, and secure imaging best practices highly preferred
  • Exposure to PowerShell scripting and automation tools is a plus
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate are preferred
  • Certifications in ITIL Foundation or Jamf 200 are considered a plus
  • Exposure to security or network-focused training such as CompTIA Network+ or Security+ is beneficial
